Opperation Light Box

So i built a light box (finally) and I think it turned out pretty good. I started with some dowels bought at walmart (under a dollar each for 3′) . I also bought a shower curtain and two shop lights (metal bowl, clamp on to things) . I then cut 1.5″ cubes out of a spare piece of wood i had laying around, and drilled 3 holes in it. each hole goes straight through so you end up with 6 total. Then i assembled it to give me this-

then after adjusting the white balance for my two different colored light bulbs, we have this as the resulting image

I’m planning on taking some creative lighting photos tonight, havent decided whether to do stock photos, or what, but i’ll see what happens… maybe some sort of alcohol bottles. Maybe i’ll go to walmart and buy some stuff to make myself a lightbox or something. I got a giftcard for christmas and maybe i could use it. could someone email me later at shorty6049@gmail.com if i havent posted? thanks…

Forgot to post on here

Hey everyone. So today i’m currently at $630 in the sony a700 fund. That means only about 300 dollars left to raise, after the next 70 i get from payperpost.i’m planning on using 100 from working at subway over january term, then 200 from my yearbook stipend, and after selling my a100 for hopefully 400 dollars, i’m good as gold.

so i forgot to let anyone who might read this know, the a700 came out and it looks great. No live view though… kinda angry about that. but anyway, i’m planning on buying one soon, or at least within the next few months. but thats about all for now

Boom

Hey (every)one, how’s it going? I am sort of having trouble believing anyone reads this.. but i’ll keep posting anyway i suppose! Whats new with me? nothing. School is tough this semester and I have at least one major project coming up here. I havent done anything today because i had class from 7:30-9:30am and now not till 3:25… Tuesdays are nice. I just got my Dwight bobblehead (the office) today and i’m impressed with the quality. so now he sits on my desk subtly nodding his head at me. anyway, to the title of this post. I went to a fireworks show last weekend and heres my best shot of the night.

Business is Booming

Lately there have been a lot of new dslrs being released by almost everyone, We had the Canon 40d and their larger pro model (cant remember the model name right now) , then nikon followed suit with the d300 and d3 models, and also the very unlikely competitor panasonic came in with the somethign or other…  but anyway, the main topic i’m trying to get down to here is that sony has YET to release a new DSLR. Why? well, i guess it could be a number of reasons, they may be waiting it out to let the other companies get thier product out and then sony will try and sort of overshadow the other brands by being last. Only time will tell when we see the next big thing from sony.

Well, recently there have been a lot of “signs” that the new Sony DSLR will be released very soon. Who knows what truth there is to any of these things , but we can only hope. Possible signs include- Sony alpha body only, out of stock on sony’s website. Free shipping till thursday on all sony items from Sonystyle.com. B&H store just upgraded their alpha display. so, anyway, lets hope some news comes soon, or i wont have anything to blog about!!

Stock Challenge!!

So recently I was approached by Ben Berndt  about a little project. We are going to be trying to make some extra money in stock photography. We are both starting this project on september first and running it until whenever. I am currently signed up with 3 stock photo sites (istockphoto, fotolia, and dreamstime) and am working on getting registered for more as well. I really hope this works out because from my experience in stock photography, its not an easy “business” to get into. I’d really like to make some money in this and am going to try and give this an honest effort. Tonight I uploaded a few photos to a couple sites to get the ball rolling. More to come!-
